Results from the conference on “Sustainable procurement of fish and fish products”

In autumn 2019, Shifting Values arranged a conference on “Sustainable procurement of fish and fish products” on behalf of the Environmental Protection Department of the City of Vienna. Presentations by internationally renowned experts were followed by interactive working groups involving stakeholders from all relevant areas, which dealt with the challenges and possible solutions for sustainable procurement of fish from wild catches and from aquaculture. The conference was part of the upcoming revision of the criteria catalogue on the procurement of fish by ÖkoKauf, the programme for sustainable public procurement of the City of Vienna. The results of the two working groups on wild capture and aquaculture will be introduced into the new criteria.
