The OceanCare team at the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species experienced moments of joy as well as days of frustration. The joy relates, among others, to better protection of several shark species as well as progress in the consideration of animal culture and in civil society participation. The frustration arises mainly from the great discrepancy between the lip service paid by states and their actual inaction.
