At the UN Climate Action Summit OceanCare calls for a binding roadmap to end the search for oil in the seabed! In view of the climate crisis, further development of oil reservoirs in the sea cannot be justified. And already the exploration of hydrocarbon deposits causes severe damage to the marine ecosystem by the sonic cannons used.

In the International Maritime Organization (IMO), states have decided to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% until 2050 (reference year 2008). This will not be achieved through technological developments and changing fuel alone. Instead, there is one operational measure that would significantly reduce both greenhouse gas and noise emissions with immediate effect: the reduction of vessel speed, especially in cargo shipping. OceanCare appeals to the international community to implement this measure as quickly as possible.
