On the 19th of September, a feast was cooked up in the big refugee centre in Erdberg, Vienna. A private initiative, in consultation with the Ministry of the Interior, the Vienna city administration and the persons in charge, invited the 500 mainly adolescent male refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia to a feast in order to say welcome to those in need and to make a sign of respect.
The feast was prepared by a team from VinziRast Mittendrin, a private project that supports people who were or are in need themselves. This means, those who know very well what it means to be homeless are cooking for the refugees who have lost their home.
A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped so much in preparing and carrying out the feast! An event that doesn’t change the world, but gives a signal.
