British petroleum company Cairn Energy refrains from searching for oil in the Gulf of Valencia. This decision was brought about by protests by hundreds of thousands of people and intensive work by Alianza Mar Blava, backed by organisations like NRDC and OceanCare.
SHIFTING VALUES is working with and for NRDC and OceanCare to eliminate or minimise the threats caused by seismic oil explorations.
The situation in the Baleares is not completely eased, though. Two more companies plan to search for oil in the region. Efforts to stop these high-risk plans will therefore continue unabated.
